HP - party

(no subject)

So. I had to wake up at the ass-crack of dawn (better known as 8am, yes I really do never get up that early) in order to make it to work for class photos. Which was hilarious. I mean, you ever try getting 19 two year olds and six teachers (two of whom are the size of two people, and yes I am one of those) into one shot? Or, for that matter, try and get 19 two-year-olds to even look in the same direction at once?

We did manage it, by virtue of a quacking duck puppet. Of course, Mavie and Liam were cracking up hysterically, and Ronin and some others were pointing at it, so I'm not sure quite how it'll all turn out. But I got to hold Ro-ro, so I don't care!

But anyway, I now have three hours to kill before class. And I can't even play City of Heroes, due to the stupid school network. Oh well, time to break out the Sims/Pokemon/various emulator games/fanfics!

21JS - Duh!

School, work, and my general brilliance.

So, apparently I'm a genius who can't read her own handwriting. My first Arabic test was October 1, not 7. Ah well, I didn't do great, but I did decently, I believe.

And in good news, I'm not actually missing my computer class tonight. Because she canceled it! So I can go to the friends and family sneak preview at my mom's new store without feeling the least bit of guilt! Ah, today is a good day. I should've known it would be good when I had two bowls of Kix this morning, because Kix are awesome.

Iiin any case, I now have an hour to kill before heading over to work early. Susie's out and we've been high all week, so Chavela will be up to her neck in screaming babies and new staff. Fun for her, amirite?

Oh! We got another new kid yesterday, Liam. He is a sweetie. Had a hard first day, but so do they all (except Kenton, I've never seen that boy cry. He just looks mildly interested and curious constantly). And, of course, Liam/Terah/Damien all got upset when I picked up one of them because they all wanted to be picked up. At least Terah'll go with anybody except Lisa, Damien is pretty stuck on me. But he's cute, so I don't mind.

Even if he is named Damien and his sister is Lilith.

Wonderfalls - hungry

In case you're wondering, the last line is a joke.

Mmm....

I decided to try my hand at cooking - something other than ramen, which I have been eating by the truckload. Made me some "stir-fry" (probably doesn't actually qualify as such) out of frozen chicken strips, frozen broccoli (because I didn't see the fresh stuff sitting on the counter), and leftover potatoes, mixed with butter, seasoning salt, and balsamic vinegar.

It's good, but I think I'm going with teriyaki sauce next time. And use a bigger pan, because this is so not enough for me right now. Which means - you guessed it - more ramen!

Now, the question: chicken, which I have a box of; miso, which I think I still have a few packs of; or beef, which I have a decent amount of but doesn't mix well with the other two? DECISIONS!

I think I shall go with chicken, because when I finish this box I can convince my mom to get a box of oriental. *srs nod*

Oh, in other news: in-service day tomorrow. Meaning I get up at 6, make my sleep-deprived way to work, in order to sit around for four hours with my legs asleep listening to people alternate between lecturing us on common sense practices and forcing us to do asinine excersizes. And then I get to spend another four hours cleaning!

...I may attempt to kill myself. Stay tuned!

#s - okie dokie

An update from the land of Lee!

...apparently a side effect of taking too much Ritalin is excess mucus production. Or at least that's the only reason I can come up with in regards to my current situation.

(If you're wondering why I overdosed on ADD medication, it's because I sortof thought that a paper for my serial killers class was due later than it actually is, and had to rather rush together a paper on Joseph Paul Franklin and the Colonial Parkway Killer.)

As I'm sure you've all heard by now, Estelle Getty is dead. And I must say, I was far sadder by that news than Heath Ledger's death - as Julia said, it is sad when attractive people die, but even sadder when awesome people die.

In other news of me being behind the times, I finally got around to watching Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and I gotta say: "Brand New Day" and the Bad Horse songs? Best. Things. Evar. "So They Say" is up there, too.

What else... oh, me and Julia are planning on crashing a Twilight release party. For the lulz, of course. Plus the fact that we can just hang out at her Tattered Cover with our laptops for a few hours. I'm planning on getting body glitter, and then dryly explaining that I'm a vampire, can you tell from the sparkles?

Today at work was a hassle. It's our room's bake sale week, so we had to have a staff member running that, leaving me and Chavela in the room with ten kids. Including basically all of our trouble kids. And Isaac was sick and fell asleep, so we had to keep someone in the room during outside time, so I basically got to watch all the kids outside while Chavela stood in the doorway. And Mavie was a little brat, kept pulling Isaac's hair and waking him up - so I put her in time out (well, sort of. We have this one area of the loft that can be semi-blocked off, I put her in there). I went back every few minutes and asked her if she was sorry for hurting Isaac. Mavie: "NEIN!" Me: "You have to stay up here, you're in trouble." Mavie: "I IN TROUBLE!" *bounces around happily*

...you know, pretty much all of my favorites are the trouble kids. Isaac, Mavie, Archie, they're all brats. And Elliot appeared to be doing good, but now he's gunning for Genevieve, one of the babies. Even Irvin's being a bully when he can drag himself away from me (god that kid is clingy).

#s - *headdesk on Colby*

Babbling about school, more for my benefit than yours.

I feel siiiiiiick. Probably from chugging that ramune before I left the house... Or the, like, six Advil I took last night. Who knows! (Does he?)

Godwin's enacted in honors class!

Anyway, I've started planning my schedule for summer/fall (and I found myself planning around my job in the fall, which surprised me, and then caused me to have a dream where I was interviewing for a job at the daycare of the Department of Transportation, which was underground and also a casino, and the interviewer criticized my attention span). Summer, I'll take American History Since 1865 (41386) and Serial Killers & Violent Offenders (40968). Fall, I'm thinking World History to 1500 (53458), Archaeological Field Research (51558), and First Year Arabic (53359), which will be through CCD. I looked up the instructor for it, and he's totes qualified for court interpretation in both Spanish and Arabic (I know because he's part of a translation service).

Actually, all the professors I've selected for fall seem to be pretty damn awesome. There's the Arabic prof I mentioned earlier, then the history prof, his areas of concentration are the Middle East/Islam and Medieval Europe, and his upper degrees are from U of Toronto, which I wanted to go to for a while.

Aaand after looking at what I wish to take this summer - well, mainly the American History course, because it's Monday-Thursday, 12.15-2.45pm - I think I'll have to quit my current job at the end of June (the class starts the first of July). That'll give me six months of job experience, and I can get a job off-campus, where I can work afternoon/evening shifts, and on the weekend, and - oh yeah - make more than minimum wage. I'll have to think about it, though.

06 - Gallow's Humor

*makes creepifyin' sounds*

So, I just realized something. Ryan, one of the kids in one of the lower preschool rooms?

He's basically Ryan Galloway, age three and a half. In both looks and personality. I had a vague moment of freaking out when I realized this, as you may well imagine.

(On the upside, both of the Maxes I know of are redheads, and not Hispanic. But, as an amusing side-note, Ryan is friends with Zane, older brother of one of the Maxes! My God.)

Red Eye - bill'n'kev

...hm?

My mommy's coming home tomorrow! Hopefully she won't be too horrified by the state of the fridge - I did throw out the moldy cheese last week, so there's something.

Anyway, I should go to bed, because I have to get up in six hours for work. Gah. One thing I'll say for working at a preschool - I get to have lots of cuddles (I'm a very tactile person), and it also makes me all the more convinced that I want to go into law enforcement. Because, I gotta tell you, the one thing that kills me about any job is the downtime. I blame my dad for that fact - first thing he did after waking up from emergency heart surgery was try and get his laptop so he could work. And I figure in law enforcement, I can always find something to do. (On the downside: reports.)

Oh, and sometime this week, I should be getting the latest CHERUB book and Greg Gutfeld's book, straight from the UK!

hp - not impressed

College, and job, and HP!

Okay, this is ridiculous. I got, like, tons of sleep last night, and I'm still all drifty-whoo.

Anyway! A listing of homeowkr I plan to do over the weekend, as I've nothing else to do with my time:
- finish geography report
- about fifty pages of Spanish work (check assignment sheet)
- one page essay in re: discussion group
- read Wealth of Nations
- read War & Peace

...hey, guys, I'm a college student! *flails*

In good news, last time I checked (i.e. three hours before the center closed), I'm only scheduled 4-6 tomorrow, and in 108 again (I was in 108 today and Tuesday, and am also scheduled next Tues, Thurs, and Fri at the same times as this week). The kids in there, much like the kids in all the rooms, are crazy but adorable. My buddies in there are Brynn and Nick, and I'm thinking Attison as well, but only because he is so much like Damien, my best friend when I was that age (who is now a Marine, wtfbbq?!).

Oh, and between the various Harry Potter games I have, I've figured out that my initial thoughts regarding Hogwarts subjects and me are correct: I would rock History of Magic and Potions, would be good but not ace in Transfigurations and Charms, and would suck worse than imaginable in Astronomy and Divination. (All other subjects are variable.)

And it is highly possible that I care a bit too much. Ahem. Also, I may have been lured to the Draco/Ginny side again. Not as a primary ship, mind you, but because Draco/Harry is becoming too predictable right now and there is very little Draco/Ron.

*looks at icon* ...hey, dude, there's totally actual screencaps of OotP out now. I could make a decent Zacharias icon! *away, to the caps!*

HMT - *hide*

My day. Today. This day. Day!

So, um, went and saw National Treasure 2 again today, after work. And I gotta say, I love the movie except in that they don't really prove what they mean to prove in the end, but the movie implies they did. But I gotta say, that I am sooooo Riley. I just... AM Riley. Like, a few of his lines, I actually muttered along with him when I first saw the movie - and not because I knew he was gonna say it, but because that was my reaction too.

Anyway, yeah. I slept for about three hours this morning, then woke up and got ready for work, only to be called and told they didn't need me. So I went back to bed. One hour later, they call to say hey, they DO need me after all! Isn't that funny (ohmygawd, I wanna die). Like, I've reached the point of tired that when I laid down to put Fletcher to sleep for his nap, I didn't even feel the urge to pass out like I normally do. And instead of zoning out during naptime, I totally cleaned out and reorganized one of the teacher's drawers (it was srsly a mess, but I got this tiny little toy car out of it!).

But I gotta stay up till 11.30, cuz there's this South Park that I love that's gonna be on. (Which reminds me: before the movie, my mom and I were playing 1 vs. 100 on my phone, and I totally got a bunch of questions right because of Family Guy. I was like, I'm awesome.)

Skins - best friend

DUN!

My final final is finally finished!

And, in other interesting news, I'm on level 54 of phone-Tetris and another of Julio's quotes was put up on Overheard Everywhere (it's pretty awesome).

So, yeah. The final wasn't as horrible as I thought it might be, which was nice. I also got outta work early - also nice! I was in a toddler room in the morning, hung out with mah buddy Tobin; in the afternoon I was in an upper preschool room, but the kid who followed me around last time I was in that room wasn't in. But that was okay, because Noah decided to follow me around and tell me about everything under the sun!

HP - party

Work again, work again, jiggity jig

Okay, it appears that I was actually in a preschool room yesterday, and then a toddler room. Because today I was put in the kindergarten room, and I gotta say: I love those kids! Even the one who decided I was his chair (every time we sat down, he asked to sit on my lap). I actually started to think of them as 'my kids', to the point where when we went outside and there was another class out there, I felt pride in the fact that it wasn't one of my kids who scratched another boy's face for getting in his way (granted, later one of my kids did hit another in the face, and then insisted that he wasn't David (his name) and he didn't do the hitting, even though I had seen him and all the other kids had as well - I had to carry him over to sit by the wall, and he kept trying to run away, so the other teacher had to put him inside the room).

And now, I have about enough time to hit the bathroom and grab a candy bar before I go back to class (ignore the time of the entry - it's 12.46pm right now, because I left this up while class was going on).

btw, public middle school lunch training has come in handy again! I managed to down a full container of spaghetti in, like, less than five minutes. Didn't even feel sick! Thanks, Laredo Middle, you and your crazy 'eat your damn lunch in three minutes or else' shtick...

(*crosses fingers for kindie again*)

CM - intarwebz iz 4 pr0n

First day of work, and fencing!

Okay, first day went awesome! Tho, I'm definitely more a fan of the toddlers than the kindergarteners - they don't expect you to carry on conversations with them when you can barely understand what the hell they're saying.

(Plus, in the toddler room I was in today, there's this boy named Jack - who's, like, extremely hyper, had me help him put on a dress, and later kissed one of the other boys on the cheek. There was also tons of more adorable little kids.)

To make the day even more better, I won BOTH of my bouts today in fencing. One was against Heidi, so that was no big deal, but then? Against Josh, who is one of the top fencers (if not the top fencer) in the class. Also the one who totally busted up Maddy's hand during their match. And even though my hand and wrist totally seized up after I scored my fourth hit, I managed to make one more and win! (Granted, that still makes me 3/7, but that ain't so bad.)

Y U GOTTA B LIEK THAT?!

The usual spaz out!

Welcome, one and all, to the 'Lee panics the fuck out' hour! (And no, it didn't help that I totally missed my Prozac this morning. Greeeeeeat.)

Basically, this is the point where I realize I'll be starting my new job in eight hours, and I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. *cue flailing*

Oh well. I must remind myself: this will definitely not be as boring as working at Toys R Us, and small children have very short attention spans and memories. Both will be very helpful. (And at least I'll be able to play with small children rather than running through the Fibonacci sequence in my head while waiting for a customer.)

Anyway, I should probably get to sleep at some point. Given that I have to wake up in six hours, and then drive to the Park'n'Ride, and then take light rail in, and then go to work for three and a half hours, and then go to Spanish, and then go to fencing, and then come home. Man, just typing that makes me feel tired. Also, I'm hungry. Hm.

X-Men - YIPPEE!

JOBJOBJOBJOB!

I HAS A JOB!!!!

In other important news, I am at level 43 of Tetris on my phone!

Anyway, the job's at the Auraria Early Learning Center, working with kids. I is happy! Also, I've gotten all of my paperwork in for financial aid, so soon my money problems will be a thing of the past! (Not that I'm short on food or housing - the 'rents take care of that - but it's nice to be able to pay tuition and get my books for class, you know.)

So now I'm killing time (approximately an hour) until I show up to do the fun stuff, like paperwork. Which I'll bring home with me for my mom to help me fill out (plus, I need to bring in my social security card anyway). Which will happen after I stop by Humanex in order to get Tracy or David or somebody to send a completed transcript to Metro, because they're whining about that for some reason. And after all the nice paperwork, my mom will help me study Spanish for the final! Whoohoo!

21JS - game fun time!

Of school and jobs (and Halloween, of course)

So I had my advisement meeting with Dr. So a little bit ago. Very nice talk, and he didn't seem to mind too much that I (a history or possibly anthropology or possibly education or maybe criminal justice or hey how about criminalistics major) was asking advice from him (an English teacher). He told me to try and get the gen ed reqs out of the way, and take some classes I was interested in, to see what I might want to major in. He also, however, said that maybe I should look into IDP - the Individualized Degree Program. So, guys, if I try to do this, what should I make my major? And is there a way to make writing a novel into the senior experience requirement...

Anyway, I'm killing time until 3, which is when I have... a job interview! At the Auraria Campus Early Learning Center! Whoo! I just put in my application yesterday, after fencing, and already I've got a callback. And yes, I know that's not what they're called, but it amuses me.

Oh, and tomorrow's been decided: I shall put my laptop in the truck, go to fencing (Spanish is cancelled), then go over to Julio's, where we shall go trick-or-treating a bit, and then sit down with our candy and have a serial killer marathon (Silence of the Lambs, 7even, and Zodiac are on the list). Afterwards, I shall go over to Sabrina's for the Nano kick-off party. I will be bringing tortilla chips and a power strip, just in case, because I am cool like that. Oh, and the entire day I shall be dressed as a Welsh rugby player. I need to find my damn shorts, though. No idea where they might be, and unlike most of my clothing, they're quite small! But I know where my Underarmor is, my Wales jersey, my boots, and my ball, so that's all good. Maybe I'll stop at a sports place after my interview. But maybe not.

...I'm so decisive, it's shocking!
