Skins - fuckin' OC

Things I learned at the Golden Globes, 2009.

I've apparently seen a full half of every movie Steven Spielberg has ever been involved in. Granted, some not all the way through - I think the most I've ever managed of ET is about forty minutes, I slept through most of Jaws, and a lot of the last half of AI is confused in my mind (not as bad as Star Wars Episode II, tho, where I'm pretty sure I fell asleep after ten minutes).

Also, if I have to watch another He's Just Not That Into You commercial, I am going on a homicidal rampage. Just so you know. Hey, movie, I'm just not that into you, got it?

Non-chronological ramblings about the awards )

So, uh. I may be getting into Twilight thnx to the utter hilarity that was the movie.

...in my defense, Jacksper was totally the best nonspeaking character evar. And vampires don't actually sparkle in the sunlight, Emmett just went crazy with the Bedazzler one night.

RL - Welsh rugby

Movies, and Julio! But, oddly, not Julio at the movies. Hm.

I totally just saw a banner ad for Forever Strong! The rugby movie! Oh man, I am so psyched for that, even if it sucks ass I'm gonna see it a bunch of times because RUGBY MOVIE.

In other, movie-related news, Burn After Reading is freakin' hilarious. I think I shall call it What Would Happen if Humanexers Got into the CIA, because... yeah. I think the liberal use of 'fuck' might've put me off of the movie back a few years ago, but after Humanex, part of my mind thinks it's perfectly natural to say fuck every other word or so. Ah, HX, you have warped me so deliciously.

(If anybody's wondering, I would be JK Simmons in the movie.)

Oh, I was totally checking Wikipedia's recent deaths page (I usually hit it every few days, just in case), and found out David Foster Wallace hanged himself Friday night. My immediate reaction? Holler the news to my mom, run upstairs to grab my phone, and text Julia about it in all caps. Srsly, man, she loves that guy. She's written a freakin' Infinite Jest/Harry Potter crossover, for fuck's sake, that's some level of crazy.

...granted, this is the same chick who wrote Adam Baldwin/Chris Hansen slash after we caught To Catch a Predator on a tv at a convention whilst stalking Adam Baldwin. So... yeah.

ONE MORE THING! (Yes, I did imagine that in Uncle's voice from Jackie Chan Adventures.) I'm totes planning a next-gen HP RPG called For the Lulz.

OZ - told ya so

More slash conspiracy theories, man.

Okay, I just watched the end of Ocean's 11, right? And when they're all standing, staring at the fountain, and Rusty looks at them all on one side, and then the other, he totally shares a look with Turk, and Turk nods his head, and then Rusty walks off and Turk totally follows him.

Plus, Turk totes calls Rusty 'sweetheart' in Ocean's 13, no lie. Or possibly Danny; IMDb is unclear.

21JS - Duh!

I am made of awesome, guyz.

...I may have just made an argument on the NaNoWriMo teen boards that the destruction of popular culture would lead to worldwide anarchy. Um. If it helps any, I have a cold and am on DayQuil (ignore the fact that I took my last dose five hours ago).

In other news, I've decided to say 'screw it', and am writing my geography paper on something like earthquakes.

Smart People was a pretty damn good movie, mostly because James was hawt, and Chuck was awesome. I went and saw it with Julia, and then we went out on 16th Street and started a shouting match with the 9/11 protesters (including Adam and Lucas from my job). We gathered quite a crowd, and I was unable to take their bitching about the Patriot Act seriously when they hadn't ever heard of the Sedition Acts. I mean, I don't expect the average person off the street to know about them, but research your protests, guys!

Me and Julia, high off of ice cream, then ran to Walgreens and got supplies for a counter-protest. Unfortunately, by the time we were ready and headed back, they had all left because it was getting dark. They are lame protesters, guys. Mega-lame.

We plan to go back in two weeks (next weekend is Starfest, so we can't go then). Our supplies? My phone, playing "Revolution" (originally by the Beatles; my version by Jim Sturgess), and two double-sided signs held on 'sticks' made of duct-taped pencils. The signs read: "Without 9/11, what would we complain about?" (Julia's), "Xenu did it" (Julia's), "They* did it** for teh lulz" (at the bottom it reads *=the government, and **=9/11), and "9/11=.818181". Those last two would be mine.

Next weekend is Starfest! I'm already geeking out, not the least because I'M MEETING ADAM BALDWIN ZOMG.

Anyway, tomorrow is hat day. I need a hat to wear.

Movies I Have Seen.

Totally forgot to talk about this past weekend!

War Games with snarky commentary was awesome, although I think I would've liked the movie even by itself, because Matthew Broderick is a hottie (tho Ally Sheedy's character was pretty much a dumbass). But 21 was really, really cool, even if Fisher got shortchanged (okay, look, I gotta love a guy in an argyle sweater-vest; but truly, Choi was the coolest guy evar). Me and Julia have decided that the characters of 21 is what would happen if HXers were actually intelligent. Also, we've decided to learn to count cards, get Corbin to hook us up with fake IDs, corrupt her brother and make him join us, and then go up and take Blackhawk at blackjack. Will any of this happen? Proooobably not, but it's fun to imagine. (We've also decided that her mom will be our third person for World Series of Pop Culture.)

Funny Games, which we saw on Saturday, was... interesting. I liked it, mostly because of the ending, but it was sortof a mindfuck.

Oh, and we decided that Jim Sturgess/Joe Anderson is one of the top OTPs, but not quite surpassing the OTP of David/Griffin. Not quite.

Mostly Sims 2, plus some rugby and fanfiction.

...there are currently 666 English fics on FFN with NCIS in the title or summary. This probably shouldn't be quite as amusing as it is to me...

Okay, how weird is this? I'm going to a reunion less than a year after I graduated. Figures that I would graduate in the 24th class of Humanex. They're having the first ever reunion for the 25th anniversary. I thought about it, and realized that Carter's really the only graduate I wanna see again (well, and Jesse, I suppose, but if Jesse's there, so will be Josh, and there's only so much talk of dolphins colonizing the moon one can take before they snap) - oh, and Drika. And Katie, I guess, not that we've exactly kept in touch. But it'll be fun to see the teachers again, and brag about the fact that I've got a job (hey, it's a big thing to me, especially since I've been at it four months!). Plus, free food!

What can I say, I'm easy.

Anyway, I've been attempting yet another Legacy, although it's going slow because of all the expansion stuff I feel the urge to explore - plus, one of the mods I have made it so that the only time I get money from jobs is when there's a promotion, but that's okay, because the house-husband likes to build robots and make potholders in his spare time, and the firstborn maxed his creativity on, like, the second day of childhood. And they're all very nice, not whining about wanting crap.

On a weird note, though, Ymir (I was originally going to make it a Norse mythology legacy, but went with Jossverse alphabet legacy instead), the founder, really doesn't like the second-born son. He was great with the firstborn, and the girl, and even with his husband's alien child, but he really seems to hate Adam. I mean, sure, the kid's not great-looking and is still in the Elvis-style hairdo, but that's no reason to go out of your way to ignore him. I've never had a Sim dislike their own offspring so much, man. It's crazy.

I'll post stuff the second I figure out what order the pictures go in, because damn it's all messed up. 'Course, I'm pretty sure that Andrew's going to be the heir, because he is cute and also skills like a madman - I mean, it's possible that Anya will grow into her ugly, deformed face, but I ain't counting on it. And Adam's pretty much the black sheep of the family (and the alien baby isn't of the legacy bloodline, so he's not eligible - plus, he's reeeeeeeeally ugly). I could try for a forth legacy kid, but I've got six people and a cat, and that's truly enough for me.

...and I just rambled on for, like, three paragraphs about Sims. That's... interesting. See, this is what happens when you wake up early for work, and they call to say you're not needed when you're about to get out of your truck at the park and ride. You sit around campus for three hours until your classes start, and ramble like you wouldn't believe.

I wanna write some fics, but all of my current ones bore me right now, and I'd feel guilty if I started a new one with all these unfinished things floating about. Damn you, brain!

One last note: Forever Strong. It's a rugby movie. No shit! Between this, and Matt Damon as South Africa's captain for the '95 World Cup, rugby's gonna get a lot of attention in the States. Hopefully.

Heeeeeeeeee.

So I just watched Live Free or Die Hard with the 'rents, and now we're watching America's Most Wanted. Yeeeah, that's my family. It's the Saturday before Easter, and we are watching this stuff (and before we started the movie, I was watching a To Catch a Predator marathon).

...also, Matt/Penelope otp. Oh, come on, they're on the same hacker list! It could happen! I swear I'm not going to try and write this because it's killing my braaaaaaains!

CJ - Golden Boy

To quote Owen, "Books books books!"

I gotta see this. And not just because Lu from Crossing Jordan is the star, or because David Monahan (and Larry Sullivan, his lovah) is in it, but also because it sounds pretty amusing on its own merit.

And now, I'm gonna say bye to the computer, and go read some more. I like books!

(...at some point, I will start working on my legacy midterm, I promise. Probably around 11pm Sunday night, but I do my best work the night before it's due!)

(Also note that the Owen mentioned in the subject line isn't the one from Torchwood, it's the one from the Protector of the Small series. kthxbai.)

Jumper - OTP

A Fuller Weekend, I Have Never Had

Man, I lived it up this weekend!

Friday, I went into work for three hours (they didn't need me until then), and then met Julia down at the Tivoli at 6. We had over two hours to kill, so we bummed around 16th Street for a while, where Julia was hugged and kissed by a black man (she refers to this as the highlight of her life), we got jabbered at by an extremely drunk and high girl in front of Walgreens, and we were followed by an Asian in a beret and military jacket. Oh, and then this one chick ran out of a bar in order to get a photo with Julia.

Oh, did I forget to mention that Julia is 6'2", wearing a strapless plaid dress, and a bright blue beehive wig? Yeeeeeah.

Then we went to Mile Hi Sci Fi's presentation of Logan's Run, and I gotta say: a lot of the humor comes from the personalized references. (There's a bit in the movie where Logan's all, "Well, okay, let's have sex," and we all laughed, and then the guys went, "Oh, you laugh, but that line works on girls from Aurora.")

After it was over, we didn't feel like heading back quite yet, so we hopped light rail back to 16th Street, where we went to the theater in Pavilions, and saw Jumper. Julia says that as soon as she saw Griffin, she decided that David/Griffin was the supreme OTP. And thankfully I wasn't the only one wondering what Jumper!sex would be like.

We went back to the house, and passed out pretty quick. When we woke up on Saturday (well, later Saturday), we watched the first two episodes of Skins series 2 and then played Smarty Pants on the Wii (I won all three games we played, obv). Then, because it was so late when we woke up, it was time to go to the ska party.

We made rather a sight on the light rail - Julia as I described earlier, and myself in my striped green hoodie, five different silver necklaces of varying lengths and designs (Celtic knot, Norse rune, cross, Buddha, and TARDIS key) and a pair of goggles around my neck. And then we walked a number of blocks from the closest light rail station to the club, and it was pretty well deserted. According to the chalk writing on campus, it was supposed to start at six - it wound up starting around eight. (Before it started, me and Julia went down to 16th and got some Taco Bell. And I drank a bunch of hot sauce packets while Julia smoked - we felt bad-ass.)

The bands were actually pretty good for local bands, but me and Julia left early because we didn't know the bands already, and neither of us knows how to skank, which is what happens at ska shows. It devolved into a mosh or circle pit a few times, which is where I got my knee all nicely bruised up, but not near often enough to keep our attention.

Though, there was a rather amusing bit right before it got started. They were having sound problems, and we glanced up to where the sound board was, and we saw a group who we named Morgan Freeman, College Professor (also known as Paco Castro, ten years older), and Hot Guy. And there was also Brother of Hot Guy, and White Shirt, but we're unsure as to whether White Shirt was one of the techies, with one of the bands, or just a regular of the club. It was highly confusing, and he didn't appear to really talk to anybody. He could skank good, tho!

Anyway, we split right before ten, and went back to Pavilions, where we saw Charlie Bartlett, which is a damn good movie - not the least because there isn't really a bad guy. And, of course, the characters were perfect visions of Humanexers.

After the movie, we came back home, proceeded to eat pizza rolls and watch some TV until we passed out. When we woke this morning (well, I woke a few hours before Julia, because Jack was at the back door yowling at another cat - a new one, orange and not full grown), we lazed about and then watched Torchwood on BBC America. To the Last Man, Meat, and then Adam (tho Julia left after Meat). So now I'm only two episodes behind!

Oh, and in awesome news, WALES IS UNDEFEATED IN THE SIX NATIONS!!!!!

HMT - *hide*

My day. Today. This day. Day!

So, um, went and saw National Treasure 2 again today, after work. And I gotta say, I love the movie except in that they don't really prove what they mean to prove in the end, but the movie implies they did. But I gotta say, that I am sooooo Riley. I just... AM Riley. Like, a few of his lines, I actually muttered along with him when I first saw the movie - and not because I knew he was gonna say it, but because that was my reaction too.

Anyway, yeah. I slept for about three hours this morning, then woke up and got ready for work, only to be called and told they didn't need me. So I went back to bed. One hour later, they call to say hey, they DO need me after all! Isn't that funny (ohmygawd, I wanna die). Like, I've reached the point of tired that when I laid down to put Fletcher to sleep for his nap, I didn't even feel the urge to pass out like I normally do. And instead of zoning out during naptime, I totally cleaned out and reorganized one of the teacher's drawers (it was srsly a mess, but I got this tiny little toy car out of it!).

But I gotta stay up till 11.30, cuz there's this South Park that I love that's gonna be on. (Which reminds me: before the movie, my mom and I were playing 1 vs. 100 on my phone, and I totally got a bunch of questions right because of Family Guy. I was like, I'm awesome.)

Josh Kirby and a new crush (no, not Josh Kirby)

Duuuuuude, you guiz know what an awesome movie series is?

Josh Kirby, Time Warrior. Fuck yes. Now the only question is: to order VHS or DVD, and whether I should get a poster or not...

*a few hours later*

Fucking Wikipedia, I got distracted! A lot! Tons, even! I found out more than I ever wanted to know about what happened to various Disney child stars, and also found that the movie I barely remember, somewhere in the back of my head, is "Flight of the Navigator" - I only remembered the opening, and that Twisted Sisters was mentioned - first I ever heard of them. Ah, me...

And omg, the Adventures of McGee and Me! I soooo remember that show! I used to watch it at my Grandma Margie's, since her library (that she ran) had all the videos. I quite liked it - and also totally didn't realize it was Christian, which adds evidence to my idea that I was completely oblivious to religion as a child. I mean, I was only eight, but still: even eight year olds should know that the Odyssey isn't normally put on in churches. What can I say, I was a special kid. Still am!

Honors class tomoooooooooorrow! And just that - I decided that trying to carry 16 credits was a bad idea, so now I'm only carrying 13. Also, I ran into Justin yesterday on campus, and Elena today - and I would have been more happy about that second one, but she totally pulled me away from talking with my new crush! He's cute (to me), smart (physics major), thinks I'm funny, and is likely interested in me! Eee! *dances around insanely*

21JS - WHOA.

Random Announcements of the Day

1. Judd Nelson's nostrils freak me out.

2. Watching the Breakfast Club on cable is rather hilarious, because they censor EVERYTHING. Like, even as a naive third grader I would've been all, "This is terribly unrealistic language."

3. Charlie Bartlett looks like an awesome movie, that I had never heard of.

4. Bender vs. Andrew? Totally just reminded me of head-of-the-KKK vs. Hansen in Mean Streets and Pastel Houses.

5. This would logically make Brian, Penhall. Carl is Fuller. Claire is Hoffs. This is all falling into place. I call 1980s conspiracy!

6. In the early bits of the detention, before their first potty break? I have done every single one of those things while in detention. Yes, even the fire.
