New Who + Warped!

Dude, omg to the new Who. *spazzes out* Spoilers )

Okay, went to Warped today. Got a horrible sunburn that is quite painful, plus I managed to completely scrape my lower leg, thanks to the wonder of falling-onto-pavement-while-moshing. On the upside, it was wicked fun, and when we were walking back to the light rail station? Well, there was a train blocking our way, and it wasn't moving, so me and Julia totally climbed onto one of the cars and then off on the other side. Oh yeah. It was awesome. I fell on my ass after jumping off, mind you, but it was still awesome.

RL - this is ME!

Warped yay!

So, um, Warped is gonna rock the house this year, guys. Against Me!, All-American Rejects, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, Reel Big Fish, AND Relient K?! Y'all don't even know how psyched I am about this! Even if it means another billionty hours standing in a three mile long line trying to get into Invesco's parking lot. And hopefully it won't rain this time, and Julia won't get trampled (although this is a very amusing story to tell now).

Also, I just picked up and started rereading Ender's Shadow this morning. Aaand I'm already halfway through it again. *snort* I'm awesome, obv.

Night of the Living Me!

So true!

In other news, my blood pressure is 91/55, my pulse is 97, my blood sugar right after eating is 126, and my temperature is 96.5. Yay, I'm turning into a corpse!

...wait, that's not a yay. Goddamn it.

I'm watching Most Daring, and I just gotta say that dudes, Asian politics involve a lot of hitting people with your shoes. I wanna be Asian!

And now, an iTunes meme. )

Music meme, revised!

Okay, this is like the typical music meme ('put your playlist on shuffle, post the first lyric for the first twenty songs, have people guess it'), except instead of doing shuffle, I'm taking the 15 songs I've been listening to repeatedly, and putting their first lyric, and making you guess!

1. "I hold on so nervously, to me and my drink, I wish it was cooling me." "Paralyzer", Finger Eleven. [info]jupiter_star
2. "Fourteen minutes and fifty-nine seconds into our fifteen minutes of fame. When the luck runs out, I won't wonder who's to blame."
3. "It could be ten, but then again, I can't remember half an hour since a quarter to four."
4. "Take the train, go separate ways, and leave it long forgotten. I'll hang my hat, and I won't be back."
5. "Is this the start of it? Has this become a part of it? Maybe we should've slowed down."
6. "Well, her name is Little Miss New in Town. She said I need someone to show me around, I said what the hell. She looked innocent as far as I could tell."
7. "If you wanna make the move, then you better come in. It's just the ability to reason that wears so thin."
8. "Am I loud and clear, or am I breaking up? Am I still your charm, or am I just bad luck?" "Swing Life Away", Rise Against. [info]no_kant_no
9. "My friend's got a girlfriend. Man he hates that bitch, he tells me every day." "", the Offspring. [info]no_kant_no
10. "I'm through with standin' in line to clubs I'll never get in. It's like the bottom of the ninth and I'm never gonna win."
11. "That's all very well, but what are we going to do about the Italian?" "A Little Priest", Sweeney Todd (my version is the Angela Lansbury one). [info]jupiter_star
12. "If I were you, I would take this as a sign. Believe it's true, we were never meant to fly. And I owe you, I know you more than anyone alive."
13. "I don't practice santeria, I ain't got no crystal ball. I had a million dollars but I'd, I'd spend it all." "Santeria", Sublime. [info]undersea
14. "I just made an enemy of someone I don't know and they are upset about somethin' that I must have done."
15. "All the girls and the boys and people making noise, just let me hear you shout - Bring 'em out! Bring 'em out!"

An Entry All About Country

Oh man. I was reading a list of meanest love songs (somehow missing the fifty billion songs by the Plain White T's that fit under that heading), and then clicked over to the saddest songs list, and their reader's choice list, and man. I forgot how so many of the country songs I love fit under that heading. Seriously, my favorites are the sad ones and the ones with twist endings.

Between their list and the reader's list, they got "Concrete Angel" (first music video I ever cried to, guys, seriously watch if you've never seen it), "Whiskey Lullaby", "Travelin' Soldier", and "Christmas Shoes" (which I first heard done in country). (The other sad song I think of is "Paper Angels".)

As for the 'twist ending' ones, the two I can think of right now are "Three Wooden Crosses", "The Little Girl", and, of course, "The Greatest", which was my favorite song ever as a child.

Other country songs I've loved for a while: "Goodbye Earl" (which, when played in the cafeteria during spirit week, all the girls sung/hollered along to, and the music video has Madame Director AND Joey Penhall, and is pretty awesome anyway), "Wild One" (because the first two lines were me until about age nine), "One Voice" (which was released just over a year after Columbine, so the last verse really struck me), "How Do You Like Me Now", "Celebrity" (a hilarious song and an even more hilarious video) and "Online", and, heck, "Alcohol" and "I'm Gonna Miss Her", because Brad Paisley is kinda of the hottest funniest guy evar and I wish to marry him.

...I totally didn't realize he's the one that did "He Didn't Have to Be". I LOVE that song. I have since I first heard it

Go to your music player of choice and put it on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud, and press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question. No cheating.

Stories I wrote (and posted): Gonna Be A Blackout Tonight, He Doesn't, random O11 drabble, The LA Rendezvous, It's All About Chemistry, A Boston Detective in a Welsh Alien-Defense Agency, Any Sufficiently Advanced Technology, and Losers, Kings, and Things We Don't Understand.
My favorite: It's All About Chemistry.
My best: He Doesn't.
Story most underappreciated by the universe: Losers, Kings, etc.
Most fun story: It's All About Chemistry, def.
Sexiest story: ...none?
Story with the single sexiest moment: Oh, the Ocean's 11 drabble. *snort* Nah, I'll say He Doesn't.
Hardest story to write: A Boston Detective, methinks. Because it actually has a plot.
Most unintentionally telling story: Losers, Kings, etc.

In which Julia and I decide to become a wizard rock band. (All of this took place over a month ago)

But neither of us can play instruments. Or read/write music. Or rhyme, intentionally. But hey, we managed to write one song! It started off as a parody of a New Kids on the Block song, but then we got bored and just wrote the rest ignoring the original song.

Oh, yes, we decided upon New Kid in the House for our name. Songs from Colin Creevey's POV! So here's our one and only song (we did think up the title, "Harry, I Believe in You", but no lyrics):

Stop it, Snape! )

Other names we considered: The Sorcerer's Stoned, the Zacharias Smith Experience, the Unforgivables, Barenaked Badgers, Rita Skeeter and the Prophet (ala Huey Lewis and the News), Backalley Badgers, the Swish and Flick, the Nearly Headless 5, and N*Sink - the Moaning Myrtle Band. We also came up with an idea of a parody of "I'm Too Sexy", in which it goes, "I'm too magic for my wand", etc.

...yeah. Mock away, my friends!

21JS - Duh!

Hints for the unguessed songs on my music meme

4. Moar lyrics: I thought I saw you reeling and holding your gut last night. It looked like you were praying but I heard someone saying you had been in an awful fight.

5. From the group that brought you "Closing Time".

7. Moar lyrics: Someday... I’ll buy an old car. Someday... I’ll get that car to start. Someday... I’ll learn how to drive too. And then Someday... Imagine all the things I could do.

8. C'mon, guys. Rather well-known group, here! Lyrics from ANOTHER of their songs: Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road. Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.

10. This group has a song (not this one) on the Veronica Mars soundtrack.

11. Moar lyrics: I'm so perfect, you're so perfect, you're not here. I hear the change in gear. My pile shakes as I hit eighty on the open road, this is an open road song...

12. Moar lyrics: The doctor looked him over and said better call the hearse: But it's not what you're thinkin', it wasn't the drinkin', this man died of thirst!

13. I'm going to a concert of them tomorrow. And, moar lyrics: Maybe I'm jaded and bored, always looking for more. Wait around for the next big fix

14. Australian "punkabilly" group.

15. This group was on Warped Tour (and I moshed to them)

Brad Paisley - "Online"

I work down at the Pizza Pit
And I drive an old Hyundai
I still live with my mom and dad
I'm 5 foot 3 and overweight
I'm a sci-fi fanatic
A mild asthmatic
And I've never been to second base
But there's whole ‘nother me
That you need to see
Go checkout MySpace

'Cause online I'm out in Hollywood
I'm 6 foot 5 and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati
I'm a black-belt in karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns girls on that I’m mysterious
I tell them I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I’m so much cooler online
So much cooler online

When I get home I kiss my mom
And she fixes me a snack
And I head down to my basement bedroom
And fire up my Mac
In real life the only time I’ve ever even been to L.A
Is when I got the chance with the marching band
To play tuba in the Rose Parade

Online I live in Malibu
I pose for Calvin Klein, I've been in GQ
I'm single and I'm rich
And I've got a set of six pack abs that would blow your mind

Warped was fun!

I am in so much pain, and it was SO worth it.

We arrived, and then stood in line for, oh, probably an hour. We finally got in, and could they make the layout any more confusing?! Ah, but it was part of the fun! We wandered around, ran into Patrick (we ran into Emily in the line), and slid down the giant slip'n'slide - that was FUN. We went twice. We got a water bottle that we refilled in the sink and otherwise kept in Julia's bag. We listed to some bands, watched the skateboarders, etc., until one of the groups we wanted to see came on.

That would be New Found Glory, of course. We got right in there, and formed part of mosh/slam-dancing circle - which we of course participated in! We also both fell down at least once, and got beaned with beer bottles (plastic, of course), and got beer poured over us. It was awesome fun!

Then we took a breather, and eventually came back to the same stage, just in time for Pennywise. We started on the outside of the crowd, and then Pennywise came out. And suddenly we were shoved into the middle of the jumping, shoving mass of people! Julia went down, and I was too busy keeping myself up to try and help her. And right after this heavily tattooed guy helped her up and made sure she was alright? This guy crowd surfed right over both of us and nearly knocked our glasses off. Eventually we managed to make our way out before we suffocated.

It also started to rain just then, so we left Warped and headed down to 16th Street Mall, where we visited Virgin Records, then met up with Carter and ate some Taco Bell, then went to Hot Topic, and then went over to Starbucks and meditated over decaf coffee (Julia), Chai tea (Carter), and hot chocolate (me, of course). Then we headed home.

A picture of me and a friend when I was around five. Aren't I cute? (I'm on the left.)
